Best Tablet and E-Reader Black Friday Deals 2026

Best Tablet and E-Reader Black Friday Deals 2026
Deal status, October 27, 2026: Not a deal yet. We track the three devices in this guide, and no device has a verified Black Friday price decrease at this time. The prices in the table below are regular street prices, not sale prices. Two of the three prices are above list price at this time. This header changes to "Deal live" when a tracked price decreases below its recent average by a significant margin. We use the price history in the benchmark section for that decision. Check back as Black Friday week (November 23 to 27) gets closer. These prices moved in that week last year.
The short version: Three devices, three jobs. The Apple iPad 11-inch (A16) is the default tablet for most people, and the model Expert Reviews calls the best tablet money can buy. The Amazon price is $399 (October 23, 2026), above the $349 list price. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 is the best Android tablet, with a superb OLED display and an S Pen in the box. The Amazon price is $899.99 (October 20, 2026), above the $799.99 list price. The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (2024) is the e-reader pick. The Amazon price is back at the full price of $249.99 (October 8, 2026), above the $199.99 list price. No device in this guide is a deal at this time.
How this guide works: We do not operate a test laboratory. We read the published reviews from review organizations and give their conclusions in our own words, with the points of agreement and disagreement. We give links to the original reviews where links are available. The section "How we compiled this" below gives the full method.
The prices (October 2026)
| Product | Price now | Deal? | Lowest ever | Average price | List price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apple iPad 11-inch (A16, 128GB, Wi-Fi) | $399 | No | $274 (Dec 20, 2025) | $373.71 | $349 |
| Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 (128GB, Wi-Fi) | $899.99 | No | $628.99 (May 5, 2026) | $740.98 | $799.99 |
| Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (2024, 32GB) | $249.99 | No | $144.99 (Jun 23, 2026) | $182.49 | $199.99 |
We observed these prices in October 2026. The sources are below. No price in this table is a Black Friday price at this time. The benchmark section shows the prices from last year.
How we compiled this
We use verdicts from named review sources. For this guide, we used the Expert Reviews review of the iPad (A16), the Notebookcheck review of the Galaxy Tab S11 (with their measured display and battery data), Digital Trends Tab S11 deal coverage, The Verge October 2026 Kindle deals reporting, and the Paperwhite Signature Edition review aggregation at TrueScore Reviews. We verified the current prices, the average prices, and the lowest recorded prices with CamelCamelCamel on October 27, 2026.
We state the price corrections clearly. Earlier versions of this guide used October sale prices that are no longer valid. The iPad sale price of $399 is now above the $349 list price. The Tab S11 price of $645 from early October increased to $899.99, with a peak of $999.99 on October 9, 2026. The Kindle sale price of $169.99 from October 6 ended, and the price is $249.99. We could not verify current Wirecutter coverage of these models.
What happened last year: the Black Friday 2025 benchmark
We cannot know the sale prices of 2026 in advance. A website that states those prices as facts makes a guess. The table below shows the data for these devices from last year, from Black Friday 2025 reports and tracked price records:
| Device | Regular price | Black Friday 2025 price | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple iPad (A16, 128GB, Wi-Fi) | $349 | $274 at Amazon | Thurrott Black Friday 2025 roundup |
| Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 | $799.99 launch | $150 off at Amazon, to under $710 | PhoneArena Black Friday 2025 recap |
| Kindle Paperwhite (standard) | $159.99 | $125 at Amazon | Thurrott Black Friday 2025 roundup |
| Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (2024) | $199.99 (2025 price) | $149.99 tracked on Nov 18, 2025 | pricehistory.app drop record |
The pattern: the base iPad had a decrease of $75, the flagship Samsung had a decrease of $150, and the Kindle models had their usual holiday decrease of $35 to $50. The Signature Edition low came in the week before Black Friday, on November 18. One condition changed since last year: street prices increased during 2026. A 2026 deal must have a comparison with 2026 street prices, not with the numbers from last year.
How to tell if this year's discount is real
We call a price a deal when the price is lower than the price one month before and lower than the recent average price. A deal does not have to be the lowest price in history. We show the lowest price ever recorded for each product, with its date, in all cases.
Apple iPad 11-inch (A16, 128GB, Wi-Fi): The default tablet

The iPad (A16) is the 11th generation base iPad from 2025, and the tablet most people should buy. The list price is $349. The Amazon price is $399 (October 23, 2026), above list price. CamelCamelCamel gives an average price of $373.71 and a lowest recorded price of $274 (December 20, 2025). The product did not change in 2026. Only the price changed. This guide uses street prices and averages for that reason.
The hardware case is simple. The A16 chip is fast for all normal tablet tasks. The 128GB base storage corrects the worst flaw of the old model. The application library is years ahead of the Android tablet library. The deliberate compromises are a non-laminated 60Hz display and no Apple Intelligence. Apple excludes this model from Apple Intelligence. Expert Reviews notes that the Neural Engine in this iPad has near the capability of the Neural Engine in the iPad Air.
What the reviews say
- Expert Reviews, "The best tablet money can buy." Their battery test ran 11 hours 54 minutes at 170 nits, a brightness below the standard test level. They call the battery result good but not great. On Apple Intelligence, they argue that the exclusion is a product-line decision, not a hardware limit. The A16 has a 16-core Neural Engine with 17 TOPS. The iPad Air has 18 TOPS.
- pricehistory.app buyer data for the Amazon listing. The average rating is 9.4 out of 10 for the 128GB Wi-Fi model. The rating agrees with the review consensus: this iPad is the safe and correct purchase.
Consensus: The iPad (A16) is the best value in tablets at a correct price. The negative points are a dated display and an intelligence feature gap that Apple created on purpose. The sources agree: the hardware is not the problem. The 2026 street price is the problem.
Honest drawbacks: The iPad has no Apple Intelligence, now or in the future. This gap has more importance each year. The display is not laminated, so a visible gap exists between the glass and the panel. The refresh rate is 60Hz. The Tab S11 below has a 120Hz OLED display. The iPad has no Apple Pencil Pro support. The USB-C Pencil and the first-generation Pencil work. Accessory prices are Apple prices: the Magic Keyboard Folio costs a significant fraction of the tablet price. The October street price of $399 is $50 above the $349 list price for identical hardware. A wait for a Black Friday price below $349 is reasonable.
Best for: Families, students, and all persons who want a tablet with all applications, years of updates, and no research requirement.
Not for: Buyers who want Apple Intelligence, a high-refresh or OLED display, or a stylus for serious drawing.

- Chip: Apple A16 | Display: 11" Liquid Retina, 60Hz, 500 nits | Storage: 128GB | Biometrics: Touch ID (top button) | Port: USB-C | List price: $349 | Street price: $399 at Amazon (October 23, 2026); average $373.71; lowest recorded $274 (December 20, 2025)
Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 (128GB, Wi-Fi): The best Android tablet

The Galaxy Tab S11 is Samsung's 11-inch flagship tablet from September 2025. The model is still the current 11-inch model after the Tab S12 launch in October 2026, because the S12 line has Plus and Ultra sizes only, with prices from $1,199.99. The list price of the Tab S11 is $799.99. The Amazon price increased during October: a peak of $999.99 on October 9, and $899.99 on October 20, 2026. CamelCamelCamel gives an average price of $740.98 and a lowest recorded price of $628.99 (May 5, 2026). The value of this tablet has a direct relation to the current price. At $899.99, the value is not present.
The hardware is flagship grade: a Dimensity 9400+ chip, 12GB of memory, an 11-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display at 120Hz, IP68 water resistance, microSD expansion up to 2TB, Samsung DeX, and an S Pen in the box at no extra cost. The S Pen has a value of $129 as a separate Apple purchase.
What the reviews say
- Notebookcheck, "A superb tablet experience with caveats." The build is first class. The OLED display is very bright: Notebookcheck measured 955 nits maximum in standard tests, against a peak claim of 1,600 nits. The speakers are excellent. Their list of negative points is specific: high throttling under load, battery life that is only decent, color reproduction weaknesses, a slow fingerprint sensor, UFS 3.1 storage in the 128GB model, and no Wi-Fi 7.
- Digital Trends, Prime Day deal coverage. Positive points: a very bright AMOLED display, a thin premium chassis, excellent standby battery life, the included S Pen, powerful DeX multitasking, and IP68. Negative points: a generation-over-generation price increase, a processor with less performance than Apple M-series chips, a keyboard accessory at extra cost, and no anti-glare finish on the base 11-inch model.
Consensus: The Tab S11 is the best Android tablet on the market. The display and the speakers are better than the display and speakers of the iPad, and the S Pen is in the box. The sources agree on the weaknesses: throttling under sustained load, a slow fingerprint reader, and a list price with no relation to the street reality. Both sources give the same advice: buy this tablet on sale only.
Honest drawbacks: The price is the biggest negative point. CamelCamelCamel records Amazon prices from $628.99 to $999.99 for this model. Never use a percent discount for a judgment of this tablet. The 128GB model uses slower UFS 3.1 storage. The battery life is only decent for the class, with an 8,400mAh cell. The new S Pen has no Bluetooth Air Actions. Android tablet applications are better than in past years, but iPadOS applications have better tablet-first design.
Best for: Android phone owners, note-takers and students with daily S Pen use, and persons who want an OLED tablet without iPad Pro prices. Buy at a sale price only.
Not for: Buyers at the current price of $899.99 (wait for $629 or less), heavy sustained-load gamers (throttling), and persons in the Apple ecosystem.

- Chip: MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ | Memory: 12GB | Display: 11" Dynamic AMOLED 2X, 120Hz, up to 1,600 nits peak | Storage: 128GB UFS 3.1, microSD up to 2TB | Battery: 8,400mAh | Rating: IP68 | Included: S Pen | List price: $799.99 | Street price: $899.99 at Amazon (October 20, 2026); average $740.98; lowest recorded $628.99 (May 5, 2026)
Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (2024, 32GB): The e-reader pick

The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (2024) is the e-reader pick of this guide. The model became available in 2024 at a list price of $199.99. A new 2026 Paperwhite lineup is on the way at higher prices, so the 2024 model is the clearance candidate of this category. The early October sale price of $169.99 ended. The Amazon price is $249.99 (October 8, 2026), above the $199.99 list price. CamelCamelCamel gives an average price of $182.49 and a lowest recorded price of $144.99 (June 23, 2026). The correct action at this time is a wait for a price decrease in November.
The Signature Edition adds four features to the standard Paperwhite: 32GB of storage (two times the standard storage), wireless charging, an auto-adjusting front light, and no lockscreen advertisements. For book-only readers, the storage is more than necessary. For audiobook and comic readers, the storage is the point.
What the reviews say
- TrueScore Reviews, verdict 4.6. "An excellent, polished e-reader that raises the bar for comfort, battery life, and storage." The positive list: a sharp e-ink display with strong contrast and adjustable warm light, battery life in weeks, IPX8 waterproofing, and the Kindle ecosystem. The complaints list is equally clear: the Signature premium has no value for casual readers, occasional software slowdowns after firmware updates, poor PDF handling, and Amazon ecosystem lock-in.
- Best Buy buyer reviews for the 2024 Signature Edition. Owners report the same points: a sharp display that is easy on the eyes, fast page turns, battery life in weeks, and wireless charging as a real convenience. We use buyer reviews as a supporting source, not as a substitute for the editorial verdict above.
Consensus: The Paperwhite Signature Edition is the best e-reader for most people. Every source praises the reading experience: the display, the warm light, and the battery. The disagreement is about the Signature premium. At $249.99, the premium is difficult to justify against the standard Paperwhite. At a sale price of $149.99 to $169.99, the calculation reverses: the extras come at standard Paperwhite prices.
Honest drawbacks: The PDF handling is poor, with weak support for complex layouts. This e-reader is the wrong tool for textbooks and papers. The Kindle ecosystem is a closed system: DRM and sideloading friction are real for a library in another system. The device has no page-turn buttons. Software problems after updates are a recurring owner complaint. The standard Paperwhite (2024) at a deep discount can have a lower price than this model. If you do not need 32GB, wireless charging, or auto brightness, buy the cheaper model.
Best for: Heavy readers, audiobook listeners, and persons with an upgrade from an old Kindle who want the full model at a clearance price in November.
Not for: PDF and textbook readers, library-first readers outside the Kindle ecosystem (look at Kobo), and casual readers at the full price.

- Display: 7" glare-free e-ink, adjustable warm light, auto-adjusting front light | Storage: 32GB | Battery: weeks per charge | Charging: USB-C and wireless | Rating: IPX8 waterproof | Ads: none | List price: $199.99 | Street price: $249.99 at Amazon (October 8, 2026); average $182.49; lowest recorded $144.99 (June 23, 2026)
Head-to-head: the dimensions that matter
Price: The Kindle is in a different price class from the two tablets. Between the tablets, the iPad street price is about $500 less than the Tab S11 current price. The difference buys the Samsung OLED display, the S Pen, and expandable storage, at a correct sale price only.
Display: The Tab S11 wins this point: a 120Hz OLED display with a measured brightness of about 955 nits in standard tests, against the 60Hz LCD of the iPad at 500 nits. The Kindle e-ink display is not comparable. The Kindle wins on eye comfort, glare, and battery life.
Stylus and notes: The Tab S11 has the S Pen in the box. The iPad requires a separate Pencil purchase and has no Pencil Pro support. For a student with daily handwritten notes, the included S Pen reduces the real price difference by about $129.
Apps and ecosystem: The iPad has the deepest tablet application library and the longest update support. The Tab S11 counters with DeX desktop mode, microSD expansion, and better multitasking. The Kindle does one task, by design.
Battery: The Kindle battery life is in weeks. The iPad test result is 11 hours 54 minutes (Expert Reviews, at reduced brightness). Notebookcheck calls the Tab S11 battery life only decent. The thin body and the bright OLED display are the cause.
Storage: The Tab S11 is the only device with expansion (microSD up to 2TB). The iPad storage of 128GB is fixed. The Kindle storage of 32GB holds thousands of books and a large audiobook library.
Who should buy each one
- Get the iPad (A16) if: you want the safe default tablet for applications, media, family use, and light work. The correct buy price is $349 or less. Buy the Apple iPad 11-inch (A16)
- Get the Galaxy Tab S11 if: you use Android, you use the S Pen, and you find a price of $629 or less. Buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11
- Get the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition if: you read daily and you want the premium e-reader at the outgoing model clearance price in November. Buy the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (2024)
Frequently asked questions
iPad or Android tablet for a student?
The iPad is the correct choice for application depth and resale value. The exception is a student with daily handwritten notes: the Tab S11 with the included S Pen is the better total package for that student. Strong budget pressure changes the answer again: a discounted Tab A-series model, or the Kindle for reading only.
Is the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition worth it over the standard Paperwhite?
At list prices, the Signature Edition has value for heavy readers only: 32GB, wireless charging, auto brightness, and no advertisements. At a sale price of $149.99 to $169.99, the answer is yes for almost all readers, because that range is the standard model price range. If the standard 2024 Paperwhite decreases to less than $125 in November, as in 2025, casual readers buy that model.
Should I wait for the 2026 Kindle Paperwhite instead of the 2024 model?
Buy the 2026 model only if you want the specific new features and you accept the higher price. For reading books, the 2024 Signature Edition at $149.99 to $169.99 is the rational purchase. E-readers improve slowly, and the display and battery experience are the product.
Why are tablet street prices high in October 2026?
Component costs, memory in particular, increased during 2026, and the street prices followed. The iPad Amazon price of $399 is above its $349 list price. The Tab S11 Amazon price reached $999.99 on October 9, 2026, against a $799.99 list price. These October prices are the reason this guide uses averages and lowest recorded prices for deal judgments, not list prices.
How low will the iPad (A16) go on Black Friday?
No person has this information, and websites with a definite number make a guess. The benchmark gives the scale: the 2025 low was $274. Against the current street price of $399, a price of $349 or less is a strong 2026 result. We update the status header at the top after a verified decrease.
Do I need cellular on a tablet?
In almost all cases, no. Wi-Fi models and a phone hotspot cover travel for most people. Cellular adds $100 or more to the price, plus a monthly plan. All three picks in this guide are Wi-Fi versions, by design.
Our recommendations
- Best overall tablet: Apple iPad 11-inch (A16). The default pick. At $349 or less on Black Friday, this iPad is the easiest recommendation in this guide.
- Best Android tablet: Samsung Galaxy Tab S11. A superb OLED display, the S Pen in the box, and DeX for work. Buy at $629 or less, the lowest recorded price level. Do not buy at the current price of $899.99.
- Best e-reader and best value: Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (2024). The outgoing flagship model. A price of $149.99 matches the November 2025 low, and the lowest recorded price is $144.99. Wait for that price range in November.
