When to Buy a Vacuum: The Best Months, and the Worst

Of every category in our price database, vacuums are the most Black Friday category we track. Every lowest recorded price we have for a vacuum landed in the same week: Black Friday week 2025. This guide shows the evidence, the windows that come second, and the one timing rule that applies all year.

How we define a deal: cheaper than it was a month ago and below its recent average is a valid deal for that date; a deal does not need to be the lowest price in history. We always disclose the lowest price we have seen and when it happened, and we never judge a discount against a launch price or a retailer's "was" price.

How solid is the evidence? No full lowest-ever history records yet for vacuums, and CamelCamelCamel verification is pending. But we have recorded prices for seven vacuum models, and their lows agree with each other completely, which is listed below so you can judge it yourself.

The evidence: seven models, one week

Every one of these lowest recorded prices landed in Black Friday week 2025:

Best window: Black Friday week

It is not close in our records. Robot vacuums are expensive, heavily promoted, and refreshed often, which makes them the category retailers most want to move in November. If your current vacuum can limp along until late November, that is the week to buy.

Second best: Prime Day and model replacements

Prime Day in July and Amazon's October event are the secondary windows (mechanism-based advice). The other reliable moment is the weeks after a new flagship launches, when the previous model gets cleared. Vacuum makers launch new flagships through the year, so if a model you want was just replaced, check the outgoing model's price before paying full price for the new one.

Worst time: a flagship's launch month

A new flagship sells at full list price in its launch month, with the previous model often discounted right beside it. Launch month is the worst time to buy the new model and, not coincidentally, a good time to buy the old one.

FAQ

Is Black Friday really the best time to buy a vacuum? In our records, yes, and it is the clearest pattern in any category we track: seven models, seven lowest recorded prices, all in Black Friday week 2025 (November 26 to 28).

What if my vacuum dies in March? Use the deal definition: if a model is cheaper than a month ago and below its recent average, it is a fair buy, and living without a vacuum until November to chase a possible extra discount is usually not worth it. Also check whether the model you want was recently replaced, because the outgoing version may already be cleared.

Do cordless stick vacuums follow the same calendar as robot vacuums? The two Dysons in our evidence are cordless sticks and their lows landed in the same Black Friday week as the five robot models, so in our records, yes.

When do new vacuum models launch? Through the year rather than in one season, which is why the replacement rule matters: any month can bring a new flagship and a clearance price on the model it replaces.

When to buy other things

Timing differs by category, and each of these guides uses the same deal definition and the same price database: when to buy a TV, when to buy headphones and speakers, when to buy kitchen and coffee gear, when to buy a laptop or tablet, when to buy a wearable, and when to buy toys. For picks, our Black Friday cordless vacuum deals guide tracks current prices in season, and the robot vacuum for pet hair guide and robot vacuum and mop combo guide cover the robot picks. Timing gets you to the right month; those pages tell you whether this month's price is actually a deal.
